How to replace clutch slave cylinder for 2003 ford focus

Removal & Installation




NOTE
These vehicles use a hydraulic throwout bearing instead of a traditional clutch release slave cylinder. Accessing this part requires removal of the transaxle.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2. Disconnect battery negative cable from battery and properly isolate to prevent accidental reconnection.
  3. Remove the transaxle.
  4. Remove the clutch slave cylinder.

To install:
  1. Coat the input shaft splines with high-temperature grease.
  2. Install the clutch slave cylinder and tighten the bolts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm)
  3. Install the transaxle.
  4. Fill and bleed the clutch system.
