Driven Disc & Pressure Plate

Removal & Installation

1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
2. Disconnect battery negative cable from battery and properly isolate to prevent accidental reconnection.
3. Loosen the clutch pressure plate-to-flywheel bolts evenly, by two turns at a time.
4. Remove the clutch pressure plate-to-flywheel bolts, the clutch disc, and the pressure plate. Discard the bolts.

To install:

1. Clean the clutch pressure plate and flywheel with a commercial alcohol-based solvent so surfaces are free from oil film.
   
   WARNING

   Do not use cleaners with a petroleum base. Do not immerse the clutch pressure plate in solvent.
2. Position the clutch disc on the clutch pressure plate.
3. Using a suitable clutch aligner, centralize the clutch disc to the clutch pressure plate.
4. Using a suitable clutch aligner, position the clutch disc and clutch pressure plate on the flywheel.
5. Install the six new clutch pressure plate-to-flywheel bolts.
6. Tighten the bolts evenly in a star pattern to 21 ft. lbs. (29 Nm)
   
   WARNING

   Remove the clutch aligner.

1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
2. Remove or disconnect the following:
   
   
   Negative battery cable

   Transaxle; see -Manual Transaxle Assembly- section

   Loosen the pressure plate to flexplate bolts evenly in ¹ / ₂ turn steps.

   Pressure plate and clutch disc

To install:

1. Install the clutch disc and pressure plate, using a proper clutch alignment tool.
2. Tighten the pressure plate bolts evenly in ¹ / ₂ turns to 21 ft. lbs. (29 Nm).
3. Install the transaxle. See -Manual Transaxle Assembly- section.
4. Connect the negative battery cable.
