The belt routing schematics are published from the latest information available at the time of publication. If anything differs between these schematics and the Belt Routing Label, use the schematics on Belt Routing Label. This label is located in the engine compartment.

Accessory Drive Belts Details on 2005 Dodge Ram?

The Complete Procedure to adjust and inspect drive belts.


The Procedure mentioned Covers Dodge Ram 1500, 2500, 3500, 2WD & 4WD. Its For 2001 – 2005 Year Models.

The Procedure is as follows:---


Adjustment



Belt tension is not adjustable. Belt adjustment is maintained by an automatic (spring load) belt tensioner.
The belts used on these vehicle are equipped with automatic (spring load) tensioners which maintain tension. No adjustment is necessary or possible.

Belt Tension Inspection



Inspect the drive belt for signs of glazing or cracking. A glazed belt will be perfectly smooth from slippage, while a good belt will have a slight texture of fabric visible. Cracks will usually start at the inner edge of the belt and run outward. All worn or damaged drive belts should be replaced immediately.

Suspension Wheel Hub & Bearings Replacing on 2005 Dodge RAM?

The Procedure to remove/ install Wheel Hub and Bearings.

The to Adjust and replace.

The Procedure mentioned Covers Dodge Ram 1500, 2500, 3500, 2WD & 4WD. Its For 2001 – 2005 Year Models.

The Procedure is as follows:---


Adjustment



2001-02 Vehicles
  1. Tighten the wheel bearing nut to 30-40 ft. lbs. (41-54 Nm) while turning the rotor.
  2. Loosen the wheel bearing adjusting nut completely.
  3. Tighten the nut finger-tight.
  4. Check the wheel bearing end-play. The specification is 0.001-0.003 inch (0.025-0.076mm).
  5. Install the nut lock and cotter pin.
2003-05 Models
These are unitized hub/bearing assemblies. No adjustment is possible.

Removal & Installation



2001-02 Vehicles
2wd Models

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Front wheel
    Brake caliper
    Grease cap
    Cotter pin
    Adjusting nut
    Washer
    Outer bearing
    Brake rotor and hub assembly
    Grease seal
    Inner bearing
To install:
  1. Install or connect the following:

    Inner bearing
    Grease seal
    Brake rotor and hub assembly
    Outer bearing
    Washer
    Adjusting nut. Adjust the bearings.
    Cotter pin
    Grease cap
    Brake caliper
    Front wheel
4wd Models
  1. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Front wheel
    Brake caliper and rotor
    Hub retainer nut
    Hub and bearing assembly
To install:
  1. Install or connect the following:

    Hub and bearing assembly. Tighten the bolts to 125 ft. lbs. (170 Nm).
    Hub retainer nut. Tighten the nut to 175 ft. lbs. (237 Nm).
    Brake caliper and rotor
    Front wheel
2003-05 Models
Coil Spring Suspension-2wd

  1. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Front wheel
    Brake caliper and rotor
    Wheel speed sensor
    Hub/bearing mounting bolts
    Hub/bearing assembly
To install:
  1. Install or connect the following:

    Hub and bearing assembly. Tighten the bolts to 120 ft. lbs. (163 Nm).
    Wheel speed sensor
    Brake caliper and rotor
    Front wheel
Coil Spring Suspension-4wd
  1. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Front wheel
    Brake caliper and rotor
    Wheel speed sensor
    Halfshaft nut
    Tie rod end from the knuckle
    Upper ball joint from the knuckle
    Knuckle from the halfshaft
    Hub/bearing mounting bolts
    Hub/bearing assembly
To install:
  1. Install or connect the following:

    Hub and bearing assembly. Tighten the bolts to 120 ft. lbs. (163 Nm).
    Knuckle onto the halfshaft
    Upper ball joint on the knuckle. Torque the nut to 40 ft. lbs. (54 Nm) (on 1500 series, plus 90 degrees).
    Tie rod end to the knuckle. Tighten the nut to 45 ft. lbs. (61 Nm) plus 90 degrees.
    Halfshaft nut. Torque to 185 ft. lbs. (251 Nm).
    Wheel speed sensor
    Brake caliper and rotor
    Front wheel
Coil/Link Suspension.
  1. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Front wheel
    Hub extension from the rotor, if equipped
    Brake caliper and rotor
    Hub nut
    Wheel speed sensor wiring
    Hub/bearing mounting bolts 1 / 4 each. Then, tap the bolts with a mallet to loosen the hub/bearing assembly.
    Hub/bearing assembly, wheel studs/extension studs, rotor, shield and spacer
    Wheel speed sensor
To install:
  1. Install or connect the following:

    Wheel speed sensor
    Rotor on the hub/bearing
    Studs
  2. Apply a liberal amount of anti-seize compound on the splines of the front shaft.
  3. Insert the 2 rearmost, top and bottom rotor hub bolts in the knuckle, so they extend from the front face as shown.

  4. Install or connect the following:

    Spacer and shield
    Hub assembly onto the shaft
  5. Align the bolt holes in the flange with the installed bolts. Thread the bolts onto the flange far enough to hold the unit in place.
  6. Install the remaining bolts. Tighten all hub/bearing bolts to 149 ft. lbs. (202 Nm).
  7. Install the washer and shaft nut. Tighten the nut to 132 ft. lbs. (179 Nm). Rotate the axle 5 to 10 times to seat the bearings. Tighten the nut to 263 ft. lbs. (356 Nm). Install a new cotter pin, advancing the nut for alignment.
  8. The remainder of installation is the reverse of removal.
