Crankshaft Damper Balancer Replacing on Ford, Mercury and Lincoln?


Crankshaft Damper (Balancer)
REMOVAL & INSTALLATION Procedure is mentioned below:----


  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2. Disconnect battery negative cable from battery and properly isolate to prevent accidental reconnection.
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Engine cooling fan and fan shroud
    Accessory drive belt
    Crankshaft pulley bolt
  4. Remove the crankshaft pulley with special tool 303-009 (T58P-6316-D) or a suitable puller.
To install:
  1. Apply sealant to the woodruff key slot on the crankshaft pulley and install within four minutes.
  2. Use special tool 303-102 (T74P-6316-B) or a suitable installer to install the crankshaft pulley.

  3. Install the bolt and washer. Tighten the bolt in four steps:

    Tighten to 66 ft. lbs. (90 Nm)
    Loosen the bolt
    Tighten to 37 ft. lbs. (50 Nm)
    Tighten an additional 90 degrees
  4. Install the drive belt.
  5. Install the engine cooling fan and the fan shroud.
