How To replace radiator on Ford E series?

Radiator replacing procedure for Ford e series.


Removal & Installation
4.6L, 5.4L & 6.8L ENGINES
6.0L ENGINE

Procedure is mentioned below: ----


4.6L, 5.4L & 6.8L Engines



Specific to:
Ford E-150 2008-2009
Ford E-250 2008-2009
Ford E-350 Super Duty 2008-2009
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Drain the engine cooling system.
  4. Remove the engine fan. For additional information, refer to the following section, -Engine Fan, Removal & Installation.-
  5. Remove the engine splash shield, if equipped.
  6. Disconnect the transmission oil cooler hoses and plug the lines.
  7. Disconnect the lower radiator hose.
  8. Remove the radiator support brackets.
  9. Remove the radiator from the vehicle.
To install:
  1. Install the radiator into the vehicle.
  2. Install the radiator support brackets and tighten the bolts to 177 inch lbs. (20 Nm).
  3. Connect the lower radiator hose.
  4. The remainder of the installation is the reverse order of removal.
  5. Refill the cooling system to the correct level.

6.0L Engine



Specific to:
Ford E-350 Super Duty 2008-2009
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Drain the engine cooling system.
  4. Remove the six pushpin retainers and upper air deflector.
  5. Remove the four bolts for the power steering reservoir bracket.

  6. Remove the three bolts and power steering fluid indicator. Remove the power steering reservoir mounting bracket. Install the power steering fluid indicator and position aside.
  7. Disconnect the coolant hoses from the Air Cleaner (ACL) outlet tube.
  8. Loosen the 2 clamps and remove the ACL outlet pipe.
  9. Disconnect the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor electrical connector. Disconnect the 3 clips and remove the ACL cover.
  10. Loosen the clamps and remove the Charge Air Cooler (CAC) tube.
  11. Loosen the clamps and remove the CAC hose.
  12. Disconnect the radiator vent hose.
  13. Disconnect and remove the upper radiator hose.
  14. Remove the four bolts and lower air deflector.
  15. Disconnect the transmission cooler hoses. Plug or cap the hoses as needed.
  16. Disconnect the lower radiator hose.
  17. Remove the two lower shroud bolts.
  18. Disconnect the transmission cooler hoses from the lower shroud and remove the lower shroud.
  19. Remove the two pushpin retainers and the closeout.
  20. Remove the four bolts and the radiator mounting brackets.

  21. Remove the two bolts and fan shroud.
  22. Remove the two A/C condenser bolts.
    NOTE
    Make sure the transmission cooler fittings on the radiator are not contacting the A/C condenser or damage to the A/C condenser may occur.

  23. With the help of an assistant, raise the radiator and CAC as an assembly enough to separate the A/C condenser from the CAC . Remove the radiator and CAC as an assembly from the vehicle.
  24. Installation is the reverse order of removal.
  25. Refill the cooling system to the correct level.
