Accessory Drive Belts Replacing on Chevrolet HHR?

About Drive belt Adjustment i will say ..........
The accessory drive belt adjustment is maintained by an automatic tensioner.


Inspection Details For Drive Belts:---


Inspect the drive belt for signs of glazing or cracking. A glazed belt will be perfectly smooth from slippage, while a good belt will have a slight texture of fabric visible. Cracks will usually start at the inner edge of the belt and run outward. All worn or damaged drive belts should be replaced immediately.

Removal & Installation



2.0L Engine
Power Steering Belt
  1. Raise the vehicle.
  2. Rotate the power steering belt tensioner pulley clockwise to release the tension on the power steering pump drive belt.
  3. Remove power steering drive belt.

To install:
  1. Rotate the power steering belt tensioner pulley clockwise and install power steering belt.
  2. Lower vehicle.
Primary Drive Belt
  1. Remove the intake manifold cover.
  2. Raise the vehicle.
  3. Rotate the power steering belt tensioner pulley clockwise to release the tension on the power steering pump drive belt.
  4. Remove power steering drive belt.
  5. Lower vehicle.
  6. Remove the air cleaner.
  7. Rotate the primary drive belt tensioner pulley counter clockwise to release the tension on the primary drive belt.
  8. Remove primary drive belt.

To install:
  1. Rotate the primary drive belt tensioner pulley counter clockwise and install primary drive belt.
  2. Install air cleaner.
  3. Raise vehicle.
  4. Rotate the power steering belt tensioner pulley clockwise and install power steering belt.
  5. Lower vehicle.
2.2L & 2.4L Engines
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2. Remove the engine splash shield.
  3. Install the special tool J 44811 to the accessory drive belt tensioner.
  4. Rotate the tensioner counterclockwise in order to release the tension from the accessory drive belt.
  5. Remove the accessory drive belt.
  6. Slowly rotate special tool J 44811 and the tensioner clockwise in order to allow the tensioner to rest.
  7. Remove special tool J 44811 from the drive belt tensioner.
To install:
  1. Install and position the drive belt around all of the pulleys except for the drive belt tensioner.
  2. Install special tool J 44811 to the drive belt tensioner.
  3. Using special tool J 44811, rotate the tensioner counterclockwise.
  4. Position the drive belt under the tensioner pulley.
  5. Using special tool J 44811 rotate the tensioner clockwise in order to seat the tensioner pulley onto the drive belt.
  6. Install the engine splash shield.
