Auxiliary Heater Case Removal?

The Procedure for Chevrolet and GM car models.

The details mentioned in this chapter for Following Car models.

Chevrolet Avalanche, Chevrolet Express Van, and GM Savana.

Heater case Replacing Procedure is as follows :------


  1. Drain the engine coolant.
  2. Recover the refrigerant, if equipped with A/C.
  3. Remove the left rear quarter trim panel.
  4. Remove the left rear corner garnish molding.
  5. Disconnect the heater to roof duct from the auxiliary heater.
  6. Remove the heater to floor vent duct.

  7. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the auxiliary heater.
  8. Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle with safety stands.
  9. Remove the heater and A/C line cover from the underside of the auxiliary heater.

  10. Remove the one retaining nut in order to remove the auxiliary evaporator underbody rear tube assembly from the core, if equipped.
  11. Disconnect the heater lines from the underside of the auxiliary heater.
  12. Remove the retaining nuts from the underside of the auxiliary heater.
  13. Remove the safety stands.
  14. Lower the vehicle.
  15. Remove the auxiliary heater from the vehicle.
To install:
  1. Install the auxiliary heater into the vehicle.
  2. Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle with safety stands.
  3. Install the retaining nuts to the underside of the auxiliary heater.
    1. Tighten the auxiliary heater retaining nuts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
  4. Connect the heater lines to the underside of the auxiliary heater.
  5. Install the one retaining nut to the auxiliary evaporator underbody rear tube assembly to the core, if equipped.
    1. Tighten the nut to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
  6. Install the heater and heater line cover to the underside of the auxiliary heater.
  7. Remove the safety stands.
  8. Lower the vehicle.
  9. Connect the electrical connectors to the auxiliary heater.
  10. Install the heater to floor vent duct.
  11. Install the heater to roof duct.
  12. Install the left rear corner garnish molding.
  13. Install the left rear quarter trim panel.
  14. Recharge the refrigerant, if equipped with A/C.
  15. Fill the engine coolant.
