Chevrolet Canyon And Colorado Heater Core Removal Procedure?

Chevrolet Canyon And GM Colorado Heater core removal.
The details to perform this replacing is mentioned in this chapter.

The complete step by step instructions with proper details to replace Chevy heater core is as follows:-----



  1. Disable the air bag system.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Drain the engine cooling system.
  4. Discharge and recovery the A/C refrigerant using approved recycling equipment.
  5. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Glove box door
    A pillar trim panels
    Door sill plates
    Hinge pillar trim panels
    Lower center instrument panel extension
    Accessory trim plate panel
    Radio
    A/C-heater control panel
    Center air outlets
    Left and right air outlets
    Knee bolster trim panel and bolster
    Instrument luster bezel
    Instrument cluster
    Headlight switch
    Daytime running light sensor
    Upper 3 instrument panel nuts
    Upper HVAC module screws
    Instrument panel screws at instrument cluster and glove box openings
    Hazard warning light connector
    Six passenger air bag fasteners and passenger air bag module
    Two screws in passenger air bag opening
    Open the left side compartment and remove the screw
    Screw at the back of the center storage compartment
    Grasp the lower edge of the center storage compartment and the right lower edge of the instrument panel and pull out to disengage the clips
    Partially pull out the instrument panel from the carrier
    Release all the wiring harness clips from the instrument panel
  6. With the aid of an assistant, carefully remove the instrument panel.
  7. Disconnect the heater hoses from the HVAC module.
  8. Disconnect the A/C lines from the thermal expansion valve.
  9. Disconnect all HVAC module electrical connectors.
  10. Remove the HVAC module retaining screws from the firewall
  11. Remove the HVAC module.
  12. Remove the core pipe clamp screws and clamp.
  13. Remove the heater core from the HVAC module.
To install:
  1. Install or connect the following:

    Heater core to the HVAC module
    Heater core pipe clamp screws and clamp
    HVAC module
    HVAC module retaining screws at the firewall
    HVAC module electrical connectors
    A/C lines at the thermal expansion valve
    Heater hoses to HVAC module
    With the aid of an assistant, carefully install the instrument panel
    Wiring harness clips to instrument panel
    Push the lower edge of the center storage compartment and the right lower edge of the instrument panel in to engage the clips
    Screw at the back of the center storage compartment
    Screw inside the left side compartment
    Two screws in passenger air bag opening
    Hazard warning light connector
    Passenger air bag fasteners and passenger air bag module. Tighten the fasteners to 80 inch lbs. (9 Nm).
    Instrument panel screws at instrument cluster and glove box openings
    Upper HVAC module screws
    Upper 3 instrument panel nuts
    Daytime running light sensor
    Headlight switch
    Instrument cluster
    Instrument luster bezel
    Knee bolster trim panel and bolster
    Left and right air outlets
    Center air outlets
    A/C-heater control panel
    Radio
    Accessory trim plate panel
    Lower center instrument panel extension
    Hinge pillar trim panels
    Door sill plates
    A pillar trim panels
    Glove box door
  2. Charge the A/C refrigerant using approved equipment.
  3. Refill the cooling system.
    1. Enable the air bag system.
  4. Connect the negative battery cable.
  5. Run the engine to normal operating temperatures; then, check the climate control operation and check for leaks.
