How to Replace Accessory Drive Belts on Chevrolet Corvette?

The procedure for Chevy Corvette car models.

The proper details with step by step instructions and diagrams is as follows:-----


Adjustment details for drive belt:
Belt tension is automatically adjusted by the drive belt tensioner.

Inspection Details for drive belt:---

Inspect the drive belt for signs of glazing or cracking. A glazed belt will be perfectly smooth from slippage, while a good belt will have a slight texture of fabric visible. Cracks will usually start at the inner edge of the belt and run outward. All worn or damaged drive belts should be replaced immediately.

Removal & Installation Procedure for drive belt:---

1. Remove the air intake duct, if necessary.
2. Install the appropriate tool to the drive belt tensioner bolt.
3. Using the appropriate tool, rotate the drive belt tensioner clockwise to relieve the tension on the accessory drive belt.
4. Remove the accessory drive belt from the pulleys and tensioner.
5. Slowly release tension on the drive belt tensioner.
6. Remove the breaker bar and socket from the drive belt tensioner bolt.
7. Clean and inspect the drive belt surfaces of all the pulleys.

To install:

1. Route the accessory drive belt around all the pulleys except the water pump pulley and tensioner.
2. Install the appropriate tool to the drive belt tensioner.
3. Using the appropriate tool, rotate the drive belt tensioner clockwise to relieve tension on the drive belt tensioner.
4. Install the accessory drive belt under the water pump pulley.
5. Install the accessory drive belt onto the drive belt tensioner.
6. Slowly release the tension.
7. Remove the tool from the drive belt tensioner.
8. Install the air intake duct, if necessary.
9. Inspect the accessory drive belt for correct alignment.

A/C Compressor Belt

Air conditioning belt is similar. Accessory belt must be removed first, see -Accessory drive belt replacement- procedure.
