How to replace Exhaust Manifold On Toyota Tacoma?


In this chapter the details are mentioned for Toyota Tacoma removal and installation.
The procedure is for 1gr-FE Engine,2TR-FE Engine,2RZ-FE & 3RZ-FE Engines,5VZ-FE Engine.

All this details and diagrams helpful for exhaust manifold replacing is mentioned here.


Exhaust Manifold
REMOVAL & INSTALLATION Details are as follows:----

1gr-FE Engine
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Disconnect the exhaust manifold to exhaust flange nuts.
  4. Remove the necessary components to gain access to the exhaust manifold retaining bolts.
  5. Remove the exhaust manifold retaining nuts. Discard the nuts. Remove the exhaust manifold from the engine.
To install:
  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  2. Be sure to use new gaskets. Be sure to use new retaining nuts.
2RZ-FE & 3RZ-FE Engines

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Clamp from the support bracket
    Support bracket
    Front exhaust pipe and gaskets from the exhaust manifold
    Heat insulator
    Exhaust manifold and gasket
To install:
  1. Install or connect the following:

    Exhaust manifold and gasket. Tighten the nuts to 36 ft. lbs. (49 Nm).
    Heat insulator. Tighten the bolts and nuts to 48 inch lbs. (5.5 Nm).
    Front exhaust pipe assembly to the exhaust manifold. Tighten the nuts to 46 ft. lbs. (62 Nm).
    Support bracket. Tighten the bolts to 29 ft. lbs. (39 Nm).
    Clamp. Tighten the bolt to 14 ft. lbs. (19 Nm).
  2. Start the engine.
  3. Check for exhaust leaks.
2TR-FE Engine

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Disconnect the exhaust manifold to exhaust flange nuts.
  4. Remove the necessary components to gain access to the exhaust manifold retaining bolts.
  5. Remove the exhaust manifold retaining nuts. Discard the nuts. Remove the exhaust manifold from the engine.
To install:
  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  2. Be sure to use new gaskets. Be sure to use new retaining nuts.
5VZ-FE Engine
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Exhaust crossover pipe, from the exhaust manifold by removing the 3 nuts
    Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) pipe, from the exhaust manifold, on the left manifold equipped with an EGR valve
    Exhaust manifold heat insulator, by removing the 3 nuts

To install:
  1. Install or connect the following:

    Exhaust manifold, using a new gasket. Tighten the nuts to 30 ft. lbs. (40 Nm).
    Exhaust heat insulator. Tighten the nuts to 71 inch lbs. (8 Nm).
    EGR pipe to the exhaust manifold, if equipped with an EGR valve. Tighten the manifold nuts to 14 ft. lbs. (18 Nm) and the clamp nuts to 71 inch lbs. (8 Nm).
    Crossover pipe to the exhaust manifold, using a new gasket. Tighten the nuts to 33 ft. lbs. (45 Nm).
