The details and diagrams to replace Timing Chain & Sprockets is as follows:----
Primary Chain/Intermediate Sprocket
- Before servicing vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
- Remove or disconnect the following:
NOTEAlign all timing marks prior to removal of the timing chains.
EngineAccessory drive beltDrive belt pulleyDive belt tensionerFront coverRight and left camshaft covers
Timing chain tensionersCamshaft sprocket boltsCamshaft sprockets (4)Right and left secondary chainsIntermediate shaft sprocket bolt and the sprocketPrimary timing sprockets and primary chain off the engine
To install:
NOTE
The following procedure must be followed to set the camshaft timing on the vehicle.
- Install the primary and secondary chain guides.
- Rotate the crankshaft until the sprocket drive key is at the 1 o'clock position.
- Install or connect the following:
NOTEThe crankshaft sprocket keyway will have to slide over the key on the crankshaft. If it is necessary to turn the crankshaft sprocket, the intermediate shaft sprocket will also have to be turned so the timing mark remains aligned with the crankshaft sprocket.

(27 Nm).Right and left secondary chains with the timing marks alignedCamshaft sprockets (4). Torque the bolts to 90 ft. lbs. (120 Nm).Right and left camshaft covers. Torque the bolts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).Front engine cover. Torque the bolts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).Accessory drive beltDrive belt pulleyDrive belt tensionerEngine - Refill the cooling system.
- Start the engine and check for leaks.
- Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
- Remove or disconnect the following:

- Lower the engine cradle or raise the vehicle to provide clearance at the rear of the engine compartment.
NOTEThe camshaft cover gasket is reusable as long as it is not damaged.

To install:
- Install the secondary timing chain over the outer row of teeth on the intermediate shaft sprocket. Route the chain over the chain guide and install the exhaust camshaft sprocket so the RE (Right Head Exhaust) pin engages the sprocket notch. There should be no slack in the lower section of the timing chain and the camshaft drive pin must be perpendicular to the cylinder head face.
NOTEThe Right Exhaust (RE) camshaft sprocket must contain the Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor pick-up. - Install the intake camshaft sprocket into the chain so the sprocket notch RI(Right Head Intake) engages the camshaft and the camshaft drive pin remains perpendicular to the cylinder head face. A hex is cast into the camshafts behind the lobes for cylinder No. 1, so an open end wrench may be used to provide minor repositioning of the camshafts.
- Install or connect the following:
Both camshaft sprocket bolts looselyChain tensioner. Torque the mounting bolts to 20 ft. lbs. (27 Nm). - Torque the camshaft sprocket bolts to 90 ft. lbs. (120 Nm).
Spark plug and camshaft cover sealsCamshaft cover. Torque the screws to 84 inch lbs. (10 Nm).Engine cradle. Torque both bolts to 75 ft. lbs. (100 Nm). - Install the right and left torque struts. Torque the retaining bolts to 45 ft. lbs. (60 Nm).
NOTEIt is important during installation that the engine torque struts are not preloaded in their installed position. Adjustment is provided at the point the strut fastens to the core support bracket. Be sure this bolt is loose during assembly.
Front cover. Torque the bolts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).Strut-to-core support bracket bolt. Torque it to 45 ft. lbs. (60 Nm).Canister purge solenoid to the rear of the coverPCV valveICM and the wiring connectorsSpark plug wires on the right-bankTower-to-tower braceExhaust Y-pipe to the converter. Torque the bolts to 20 ft. lbs. (27 Nm).Negative battery cable - Start the engine and check for leaks.
These details will help.
Thanks.
