How to remove Flywheel Flexplate on 2005 ford explorer?

The transmission has to be replaced to remove flywheel/flexplate.

Flywheel/Flexplate

Removal & Installation

1. Remove the transmission. See -Automatic Transmission- section.
2. Remove the flexplate attaching bolts and remove the flexplate.

To install:

1. Position the flexplate into position.
2. Select only the appropriate new bolts designed for flexplate application.
3. Install and tighten the bolts in sequence as shown:

4.0L (VIN E)

1. Stage 1: 10 ft. lbs. (13 Nm)
2. Stage 2: 52 ft. lbs. (71 Nm)

<B>4.6L (VIN 8): 59 ft. lbs. (80 Nm)
