How to remove Oil Pressure Sensor on 2005 Ford explorer?


Oil Pressure Sensor


Removal & Installation




NOTE
Oil pressure senders are used for oil pressure gauges, whereas the oil pressure switches are used for vehicles equipped only with a low oil pressure warning lamp.

The oil pressure senders/switches are located as follows:


4.0L engines-Left side front of the engine, below the cylinder head in the engine block
4.6L engines-left front of engine behind oil filter
5.0L engine-Left-hand front of the engine, below the rocker arm cover

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove oil filter drip shield (4.6L DOHC engines)
  3. Disconnect the wiring at the sender/switch.
  4. Remove the oil pressure sender/switch from the engine.
To install:
  1. Coat the threads with electrically conductive sealer and thread the unit into place. Tighten the sender/switch to 10-18 ft. lbs (13-24 Nm).
  2. Attach the wiring to the sender/switch.
  3. Install oil filter drip shield (4.6L DOHC engines)
  4. Connect the negative battery cable.

  3. Remove the oil pressure sender/switch from the engine.
To install:
