The procedure is similar for Ford Crown Victoria, Mercury Grand Marquis, Lincoln Town Car.
Intake Manifold
REMOVAL & INSTALLATION Details are as follows:---
- If equipped with air suspension, the air suspension switch, located on the right-hand side of the luggage compartment, must be turned to the OFFposition before raising the vehicle.
- Disconnect negative battery cable.
- Drain the engine cooling system.
- Properly relieve the fuel system pressure.
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
- Disconnect the fuel tube spring lock coupling.
- Remove the air cleaner and outlet pipe.
- Remove the wiper mounting arm and pivot shaft.
- Disconnect the 8 fuel injector electrical connectors.
- Remove the 8 ignition coil-on-plugs.
- Remove the 2 bolts and the intake manifold shield.
- Disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose from the intake manifold.
- Disconnect the quick connect coupling Evaporative Emission (EVAP) canister purge valve hoses from the Throttle Body (TB) spacer and from the EVAP canister purge valve.
- Disconnect the quick connect coupling PCV tube from the TB spacer.
- Disconnect the EGR system module vacuum and electrical connectors.
- Disconnect the intake manifold-to- TB spacer vacuum hose.
- Disconnect the generator electrical connector.
- Detach the 2 generator wiring harness retainers from the generator bracket.
- Remove the 4 generator bracket bolts and the bracket.
- Remove the coolant thermostat.
- Disconnect the throttle control and the Throttle Position (TP) sensor electrical connectors.
- Release the heater hose spring clamp and disconnect the heater hose.
- Remove the EGR system module tube.
- If equipped, detach the wire harness retainer from the intake manifold crash bracket.
- Remove the intake manifold crash bracket bolt and prevent the bolt from contacting the cylinder head with a rubber band or tie strap.
- Remove the intake manifold crash bracket bolt.
- Disconnect the fuel rail pressure and temperature sensor vacuum and electrical connectors.
- Remove the wire harness retainer from the rear of the intake manifold.
- Remove the 8 bolts and the intake manifold. Remove and discard the intake manifold gaskets.
- Clean the sealing surfaces.
To install:
- Clean all gaskets mating surfaces.
- Position new intake manifold gaskets on the cylinder heads. Be sure the alignment tabs on the gaskets are aligned with the holes in the cylinder heads.
- Install the intake manifold and the 9 retaining bolts. Hand-tighten the right-rear bolt (viewed from the front of the engine) before final tightening, then tighten the bolts, in sequence, to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
- Inspect and if necessary, replace the O-ring seal on the thermostat housing. Position the housing and upper hose and install the 2 retaining bolts. Tighten to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
- To complete installation, reverse remaining removal procedure.
- Fill the engine cooling system.
- If equipped with air suspension, turn the air suspension switch to the ONposition.
- Start the engine and check for leaks.
- Road test the vehicle and check for proper operation.
This details will help.
Thanks.
