How to Replace Engine Cooling Fans on Dodge and Chrysler?

The Procedure to replace Engine cooling fan.Its also called Radiator Fan.

Please Note that this Procedure Covers all U.S. and Canadian models of the Chrysler/Dodge Avenger, Chrysler Sebring Coupe and Dodge Stratus/ Stratus Coupe models for Year 1999 to 2005.

In this chapter details are provided to rep[lace Engine fan.
The location and diagram of Engine cooling fan.

The Details About Fan Control module.
The basic Procedure to Test Control Module and much more help.

The procedure is as follows:---

Control Module

These engines do not use an electric fan switch per se, but rather an electronic module that can run one or both fans at two speeds.
Testing
  1. If both fans are not working, begin troubleshooting with the fan control relay.
  2. Remove the fan relay from the underhood fuse panel.
  3. Use an ohmmeter to check continuity between terminals 4 and 2.

    The circuit should be open.
  4. Connect relay terminal 3 to battery (-) and terminal 1 to battery (+)
  5. Use an ohmmeter to check continuity between terminals 4 and 2.

Resistance should be 2 ohms or less
To Test the Fan Control Module:
  1. Remove condenser fan motor connector.
  2. Start the engine and run it at idle.
  3. Turn the A/C switch to ON and maintain the coolant temperature at 176°F (80°C) or less.
  4. When measuring the voltage between the fan control module-side connector terminals, check that the value changes repeatedly as indicated:

    (1) 0 volts
    (2) 5.6-10.8 volts
    (3) Battery voltage plus or minus 2.6 volts
  5. If the voltage does not repeatedly change as indicated, replace the radiator fan motor and the fan control module assembly.

Removal & Installation

The radiator fan module includes a support shroud with two electrically driven motors with fan blades. The radiator fan module is fastened to the radiator. The motors, shroud, and fan blades are serviced separately.
  1. Remove the upper radiator crossmember.
  2. Disconnect radiator fan electrical connector.
  3. Remove the fasteners and upper clip attaching fan assembly to radiator.
  4. Remove the radiator fan assembly by lifting upward.
To install:
  1. Install the radiator fan to radiator. Install the retaining clip and tighten fasteners to 45 inch lbs. (5 Nm).
  2. Connect radiator fan electrical connector.
  3. Install the upper radiator crossmember.
2.0L, 2.4L, 2.5L And 3.0L Engines

All models use electric motor driven, two speed cooling system fans. The fan modules include a motor support and shroud. The module is bolted to the radiator.
  1. Disconnect battery negative cable from remote negative terminal on shock tower and properly isolate to prevent accidental reconnection.
  2. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Upper radiator crossmember.
    Fan motor electrical connector.
Fasteners attaching fan module to radiator
    Fan module.
There are no repairs to be made to the fan. If the fan is warped, cracked, or otherwise damaged, it must be replaced with only the recommended part for adequate strength, performance and safety.

To install:
  1. Install or connect the following:

Fan module to radiator. Tighten shroud to radiator fasteners to 65 inch lbs. (7.5 Nm)
    Fan motor electrical connector.
    Upper radiator crossmember.

These details will help.
Thanks.
