Crankshaft Damper Replacing on Dodge Sprinter?

The procedure to replace Crankshaft Damper Balancer on Dodge Sprinter VAN and Truck Models.

The details are as follows:---


  1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle.
  3. Remove both front lower splash shields.
  4. Remove the transmission thermal bypass valve, and the cooler lines between the block and transmission.
  5. Remove the starter blank.
  6. Install special tool No. 9102 flywheel locking tool.
  7. Release the accessory drive belt tension by resetting the drive belt tensioner and installing a retaining pin.
  8. Remove the vibration damper bolt.
  9. Install special tool No. 9544 vibration damper puller.
    CAUTION
    Care must be taken when removing the damper. DO NOT damage or gouge the front crankshaft seal.
  10. Remove the vibration damper.
To install:

NOTE
To prevent potential oil leaks, DO NOT touch the front crankshaft inner seal.

  1. Align the alignment key in the crankshaft with the key way in the damper and install the vibration damper. Tighten the bolt to 224 ft. lbs. plus 90° (304 N·m, plus 90°).
  2. Position the drive belt back onto the pulleys and release the belt tensioner.
  3. Remove special tool No. 9102 flywheel locking tool.
  4. Install the transmission thermal bypass valve and transmission cooler lines.
  5. Install the intermediate and front underbody splash shields.
  6. Lower the vehicle.
  7. Connect negative battery cable.
