The Procedure for 2.7L Engine and 3.0L Engine models.
Please Note that this Procedure Covers all U.S. and Canadian models of the Chrysler/Dodge Avenger, Chrysler Sebring Coupe and Dodge Stratus/ Stratus Coupe models for Year 1999 to 2005.
The procedure is as follows:---
2.7L Engine:---
- Properly relieve the fuel system pressure.
- Remove or disconnect the following:
Negative battery cableThrottle body air inlet hoseAir cleaner assemblyThrottle cable shieldThrottle and speed control cablesThrottle cable bracketManifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor connectorThrottle Position Sensor (TPS) connectorIdle Air Control (IAC) motor connectorManifold Tuning Valve (MTV) connectorVapor purge hoseBrake booster vacuum hoseSpeed Control ServoPositive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) hoseExhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) upper tubeUpper throttle body support bracketUpper intake manifold and discard the gasket - To remove the lower intake manifold proceed as follows:
- Remove the fuel injector electrical connectors.
- Remove the fuel supply hose from the fuel rail.
- Remove the fuel rail support bracket.
- Remove the fuel rail and injectors as an assembly.
- Remove the lower intake manifold and discard the gasket.
To install:
- Clean all mating surfaces of any residual gasket material.
- Install or connect the following:
Lower intake manifold with a new gasketFuel rail and injectors and torque the lower intake manifold bolts, in sequence, to 105 inch lbs. (12 Nm)Fuel supply hose to the fuel railFuel rail support bracket to the throttle bodyFuel injector electrical connectorsUpper intake manifold with a new gasket on the lower intake manifold and torque the bolts, in sequence, to: 105 inch lbs. (12 Nm)EGR upper tubeSpeed control servoPCV, brake booster and vapor purge hosesMAP sensor electrical connectorTPS sensor electrical connectorIAC motor electrical connectorMTV electrical connectorThrottle cable bracketThrottle and speed control cablesThrottle cable shieldThrottle body air inlet hoseAir cleaner assemblyNegative battery cable - Start the vehicle, check for leaks and repair if necessary.
- Properly relieve the fuel system pressure.
- Remove or disconnect the following:
Negative battery cableIntake manifold plenumFuel injector connectorFuel supply and return hosesVacuum hoseFuel rail, injectors and pressure regulator as an assemblyInsulatorsPositive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) hoseRight front upper timing belt cover and bracketIntake manifold and discard the gasket To install: - Clean all mating surfaces of any residual gasket material.
- Install or connect the following:
Intake manifold with a new gasket. Torque the nuts as follows:
- Right bank to 62 inch lbs. (7 Nm).
- Left bank to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm).
- Right bank to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm).
- Left bank to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm).
- Right bank to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm).
Right front upper timing belt cover and bracket and torque the bolts to 10 ft. lbs. (15 Nm)PCV hoseFuel rail assembly and torque the bolts to 102 inch lbs. (12 Nm)Vacuum hoseFuel supply and return hosesFuel injector electrical connectorNegative battery cable
- Start the vehicle, check for leaks and repair if necessary.
