To install:
  1. Install oil pressure sender.
  2. Connect oil pressure sender wire.
  3. Install front splash shield.
  4. Lower vehicle.
  5. Connect the negative battery cable.
5.7L Engine
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Remove all alternator mounting bolts.
  4. Remove the alternator electrical connectors.
  5. Disconnect oil pressure sender wire.
  6. Remove the pressure sender.
To install:
  1. Apply thread sealant to sensor threads.
  2. Install oil pressure sender.
  3. Connect oil pressure sender wire.
  4. Tighten the sensor to 20 ft. lbs. (28 Nm).
  5. Connect oil pressure sender wire.
  6. Install all alternator mounting bolts.
  7. Install the alternator electrical connectors.
  8. Connect the negative battery cable.
5.9L Diesel Engine
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2. Disconnect the battery negative cables.
  3. Disconnect the oil pressure switch connector.
  4. Using a suitable socket, remove the oil pressure switch from the block (counter-clockwise).
To install:
  1. If the switch is not being replaced, replace and lubricate the o-ring.
  2. Install the oil pressure switch and tighten to 159 inch. lbs. (18 Nm).
  3. Connect oil pressure switch connector.
  4. Connect the battery negative cables.
  5. Start engine and check for oil leaks at the switch.
6.7L Diesel Engine

NOTE
When installing a new oil pressure switch, the kit will include a special 90° fitting that must be installed. Clock the fitting and switch assembly between the 1:00 o'clock and 2:00 o'clock position. Tighten the fitting bolt to 13 ft. lbs. (18 Nm).

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2. Disconnect the battery negative cables.
  3. Disconnect the oil pressure switch connector.
  4. Using a suitable socket, remove the oil pressure switch from the block (counter-clockwise).
  5. Remove the banjo screw from the oil pressure switch mounting block.
To install:
  1. Install banjo screw through the oil pressure switch mounting block. The switch mounting block port (oil switch port) should point to the 2 o'clock position. Tighten the banjo screw to or 18 ft lbs. (24 Nm).
  2. If the switch is not being replaced, replace and lubricate the o-ring.
  3. Install the oil pressure switch and tighten to 159 inch. lbs. (18 Nm).
  4. Connect oil pressure switch connector.
  5. Connect the battery negative cables.
  6. Start engine and check for oil leaks at the switch.

Testing

  1. The oil pressure sensor is threaded into the engine block (see location illustrations). Low oil pressure (less than 10 psi) will close the switch, creating a circuit which includes the warning light. The light will go on when the switch is closed.
  2. Disconnect the harness wire(s) from the sensor. Connect a jumper wire from the harness wire to ground on the engine (if single wire) or across the two harness wires.
  3. Turn the ignition switch ON . The low oil pressure warning light should go ON. Disconnect the jumper. The light should go OFF . If the lamp does not light when the circuit is completed, suspect a burned out bulb or wiring problem.
  4. With the engine off and oil pressure "zero", check for continuity across the switch body. On single-terminal switches, check continuity between the switch terminal and ground on the switch body or engine block. On two-terminal switches, check for continuity between the two terminals. In either case, there should be continuity. If not, replace the switch.

These details will help.
Thanks.
