The Chevy Malibu Compressor replacing procedure is as follows:-----
Removal & Installation Procedure for
- 2.2L (L61) ENGINE.
- 3.5L (LZ4) & 3.9L (LZ9) ENGINES.
2.2L (L61) Engine
- Recover the refrigerant.
- Raise the vehicle.
- Remove the right front fender liner.
- Remove the right radiator air deflector retainers.
- Remove the right radiator air deflector.
- Remove the engine drive belt.
- Remove the compressor hose nut from the compressor.
- Remove the compressor hose from the compressor. Cap A/C components.
- Remove the compressor wire harness connector.
- Remove the 2 compressor mounting bolts and 1 mounting nut.
- Remove the compressor.
NOTECap all A/C components immediately to prevent system contamination.
- Remove and discard the sealing washers
To install:
NOTE
If replacing the compressor, refer to Compressor Oil Balancing.
- Uncap A/C components.
- Install new sealing washers.
- Install the compressor.
- Install the compressor mounting bolts and tighten to 37 ft. lbs. (50 Nm).
- Install the compressor wire harness connector.
- Install the compressor hose to the compressor.
- Install the compressor hose nut to the compressor and tighten to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm).
- Install the engine drive belt.
WARNINGRadiator air deflectors must be properly installed or reduced A/C and engine cooling system performance could occur. - Install the right radiator air deflector.
- Install the right radiator air deflector retainers.
- Install the right front fender liner.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Evacuate and charge the A/C system.
- Leak test the fittings.
3.5L (LZ4) & 3.9L (LZ9) Engines
- Recover the refrigerant.
- Remove the drive belt.
- Raise and support the vehicle.
- Remove the right front fender liner.
- Disconnect the A/C compressor electrical connector.
- Remove the compressor hose nut from the compressor.
- Remove the compressor hose from the compressor. Cap A/C components.
- Remove and discard sealing washers.
- Remove A/C compressor bolts.
- Remove the A/C compressor.
To install:
NOTE
If replacing the compressor, refer to Compressor Oil Balancing.
- Install the A/C compressor.
- Install A/C compressor mounting bolts and nut tighten to 37 ft. lbs. (50 Nm).
- Uncap A/C components.
- Install new sealing washers.
- Install the compressor hose to the compressor. Tighten the hose mounting nut to 15 ft. (20 Nm).
- Reconnect the A/C compressor electrical connector.
- Install the right front fender liner.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Install the drive belt.
- Evacuate and charge the A/C system.
- Leak test the fittings.
