The complete step by step procedure is as follows:---
Adjustments
This vehicle utilizes a modular clutch assembly located between the engine and the transaxle. The modular clutch is serviced as an assembly and is self-adjusting. The self-adjusting feature of the clutch relies on a sensor ring and adjuster ring.
Removal & Installation
- Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
- Remove or disconnect the following:
The negative battery cableThe air cleaner assemblyThe battery and trayThe back-up lamp electrical connectorThe shift cable-to-bracket clipsThe shift lever and crossover cable from the levers. Move the cables out of the way.The Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) electrical connectorThe clutch master cylinder tube from the slave cylinder using a clutch hydraulic quick connect Tool 6638ABoth halfshaftsThe power steering hose from the structural collarThe left side lateral bending brace and structural collarThe bell housing dust coverThe right side lateral bending braceThe starterThe driveplate-to-clutch module bolts and support the engine at the oil panThe transaxle upper mount bolts and lower the engine/transaxle assemblyThe modular clutch from the input shaft
To install:
- Install or connect the following:
The clutch module to the input shaftThe transaxle-to-engine mount bolts and torque them to 80 ft. lbs. (108 Nm)The upper mount bolts and torque them to 65 ft. lbs. (88 Nm)The driveplate-to-clutch module bolts and torque them to 65 ft. lbs. (88 Nm)The starter and torque the bolts to 40 ft. lbs. (54 Nm). Make certain that the ground cable is fastened to the upper boltThe starter electrical connectorsThe bell housing dust coverThe left side lateral bending brace and structural collarThe power steering hose to the structural collarThe right side lateral bending brace and torque the bolts to 60 ft. lbs. (81 Nm)Both halfshaftsThe clutch master cylinder tube to the slave cylinderThe VSS electrical connectorThe back-up lamp switch electrical connectorThe air cleaner assemblyThe battery and trayThe battery cables - Fill the transaxle to the proper level.
- Road test the vehicle and check for proper clutch operation.
- Check the fluid level and adjust if needed.
