The procedure to remove/install Exhaust manifold is as follows:----
FOR Turbocharged Engines
The exhaust manifold on turbocharged model is removed as an assembly with the turbocharger.
AND
FOR Non-Turbocharged Vehicles the details are as follows:-----
- Remove or disconnect the following:
The negative battery cableThe air cleaner assembly and bracketThe throttle and speed control cablesThe Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor electrical connectorThe power steering reservoir, move it aside. DO NOT disconnect the fluid lines.The coolant recovery bottleThe exhaust manifold upper heat shieldThe exhaust pipe from the manifoldThe engine wiring heat shieldThe manifold support bracketThe lower exhaust manifold heat shieldThe upstream Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO 2 S) connectorThe exhaust manifold and discard the gasket - Thoroughly clean the mating surfaces.
To install:
- Install or connect the following:
The new gasketThe exhaust manifold and torque the bolts, in sequence, to 17 ft. lbs. (23 Nm)The alternator bracket bolt, if loosenedThe exhaust manifold heat shields and torque the bolts to 105 inch lbs. (12 Nm)The exhaust manifold support bracketThe engine wiring heat shieldThe upstream HO 2 sensor wiring connectorThe exhaust pipe to the manifold and torque the bolts to 21 ft. lbs. (28 Nm)The coolant recovery bottleThe power steering pump reservoirThe MAP sensor connectorThe throttle and speed control cablesThe air cleaner bracket and assemblyThe negative battery cable - Start the vehicle and check for leaks, repair if necessary.
