Cadillac 2.8L & 3.6L Engines Cylinder Head Replacing?

The details mentioned here are for Cadillac CTS and DTS 2.8L & 3.6L Engines Care models.
The procedure to remove and install cylinder head with proper details and diagrams.

Cylinder Head Replacing for

2.8L & 3.6L EnginesLeft Side
  1. Drain the cooling system.
  2. Relieve the fuel system pressure.
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:
    NOTE
    Do NOT remove the oil filter adapter.



    Negative battery cable
    Spark plugs
    Front cover
    Left bank secondary camshaft timing chain
    Coolant temperature sensor
    Wiring harnesses from the cylinder head
    Power steering pump mounting bolts
    Surge tank hose
    Wiring harness bracket
    Catalytic converter
    Oil level indicator tube
    Oil filter adapter upper bolt



    Exhaust manifold
    Cylinder head
To install:

  1. Install the exhaust manifold to the cylinder head. Tighten the bolts to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
  2. Install the cylinder head with a new gasket. Tighten using new bolts as follows:
    1. Step 1: Bolts 1-8 to 33 ft. lbs. (45 Nm).
    2. Step 2: Bolts 1-8 plus 120 degrees.
    3. Step 3: Bolts 9-10 to 11 ft. lbs. (15 Nm).
    4. Step 4: Bolts 9-10 plus 60 degrees.
  3. Install or connect the following:

    Oil filter adapter upper bolt. Tighten to 17 ft. lbs. (23 Nm).
    Oil level indicator tube
    Catalytic converter
    Wiring harnesses bracket
    Surge tank hose
    Power steering pump bolts. Tighten bolts to 37 ft. lbs. (50 Nm).
    Wiring harnesses
    Coolant temperature sensor
    Left bank secondary camshaft timing chain
    Spark plugs
    Front cover
    Negative battery cable
  4. Fill the cooling system to the correct level.
  5. Start the engine and check for leaks.
Right Side
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2. Drain the cooling system.
  3. Relieve the fuel system pressure.
  4. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Negative battery cable
    Spark plugs
    Front cover
    Right bank secondary camshaft timing chain
    Coolant hoses
    Catalytic converter
    Wiring harnesses from the cylinder head
    Exhaust manifold
    Cylinder head
To install:

  1. Install the exhaust manifold to the cylinder head. Tighten the bolts to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
  2. Install the cylinder head with a new gasket. Tighten the bolts as follows:
    1. Step 1: Tighten to 33 ft. lbs. (45 Nm).
    2. Step 2: Tighten an additional 120 degrees.
  3. Install or connect the following:

    Wiring harnesses to the cylinder head
    Catalytic converter
    Coolant hoses
    Right bank secondary camshaft timing chain
    Spark plugs
    Front cover
    Negative battery cable
  4. Fill the cooling system to the correct level.
  5. Start the engine and check for leaks.
