    NOTE
All gasket mating surfaces must remain free of oil and foreign material. Use GM P/N 12346139 (Canadian P/N 10953463) or equivalent to clean surfaces.
  18. Clean the following areas:

The gasket sealing surfaces on the cylinder head, cylinder block, intake manifold, and exhaust manifold
    The cylinder block bolt threads
To install:
  1. Clean the following areas:

The gasket sealing surfaces on the cylinder head, cylinder block, intake manifold, and exhaust manifold
    The cylinder block bolt threads
  2. Install the cylinder head gasket.
  3. Install the cylinder head.
    NOTE
This component uses torque-to-yield bolts. When servicing this component do not reuse the bolts, New torque-to-yield bolts must be installed. Reusing used torque-to-yield bolts will not provide proper bolt torque and clamp load. Failure to install NEW torque-to-yield bolts may lead to engine damage.
