- Remove or disconnect the following:
Negative battery cableCatalytic converter from the exhaust manifoldExhaust sealAir intake assemblyTransmission fill tube bracket nut, if equipped with automatic transmissionHeated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) from exhaust manifoldExhaust manifold heat shieldExhaust manifold boltsExhaust manifold and gasket
To install:
- Clean the exhaust manifold retainer threads and the gasket mating surfaces.
- Coat the bolt threads with a suitable threadlock.
- Install the exhaust manifold and tighten the bolts in sequence to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm), tighten the bolts again to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm), then tighten the bolts again to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm).
- Install or connect the following:
Heat shield and tighten the nuts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm)HO2S and tighten to 31 ft. lbs. (42 Nm)Transmission fill tube bracket nut, if equipped with automatic transmission.Air intake assemblyNew exhaust seal to the exhaust manifold flangeCatalytic converter to the manifold. Tighten the nuts to 37 ft. lbs. (50 Nm).Negative battery cable
