CAUTION
Before beginning this procedure, refer to the precautions at the beginning of this section. Only a MVAC-trained, EPA-certified, automotive technician should service the A/C system or its components.
- Recover the refrigerant from the A/C System.
- Remove the A/C drive belt.
- Remove the A/C compressor hose assembly from the A/C compressor.
- Lower the front suspension crossmember.
- Disconnect the A/C compressor electrical connector.
- Remove the A/C compressor mounting bolts (1, 2, 4).
- Remove the A/C compressor mounting nut 3.
- Remove the A/C compressor from the vehicle.
To install:
- Install the A/C compressor to the vehicle.
- Finger tighten the A/C compressor bolts and nuts only, do not torque at this time.
- Position the A/C compressor onto the A/C compressor bracket and install the A/C compressor mounting bolts (1, 2, 4).
- Install the A/C compressor mounting nut 3.
- Tighten the A/C compressor mounting bolts and nut in sequence as shown to 37 ft. lbs. (50 Nm).
- Connect the A/C compressor electrical connector.
- Raise and install the front suspension crossmember.
- Install the compressor hose assembly to the A/C compressor.
- Install the A/C drive belt.
- Evacuate and recharge the A/C System.
- Leak test the fittings of the A/C components.
