Left Side
- Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
- Remove the left closeout panel.
- Disconnect the left air temperature actuator (Blend Door) electrical connector from the actuator.
- Remove the left air temperature actuator screws.
- Remove the left air temperature actuator.
To install:
- Install the left air temperature actuator.
- Install the left air temperature actuator screws.
- Tighten the screws to 9 inch lbs. (1 Nm).
- Connect the left air temperature actuator electrical connector to the actuator.
- Install the left closeout panel. Tighten the fasteners to 18 inch lbs. (2 Nm).
- Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
- Disable SIR system.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Remove the instrument panel top pad.
- Remove the instrument panel center trim panel.
- Remove the left instrument panel accessory trim plate.
- Remove the instrument panel cluster assembly.
- Remove the driver knee bolster assembly.
- Remove the steering column.
- Remove the instrument panel compartment.
- Remove the instrument panel ashtray assembly, if equipped.
- Remove the center console, if equipped.
- Remove the radio.
- Remove the HVAC control Assembly.
- Remove the instrument panel left air outlet.
- Remove the right and left side window air outlet ducts.
- Remove the instrument panel right air outlet.
- Remove the instrument panel lower panel bolts.
- Disconnect the electrical harness connections.
- With the aid of an assistant, remove the instrument panel lower panel.
- Remove the left hand floor air outlet duct.
- Disconnect the left hand air temperature actuator electrical connector.
- Remove the left temperature actuator screws.
- Remove the left temperature actuator.
To install:
- Install the left temperature actuator.
- Install the left temperature actuator screws. Tighten the screws to 9 inch lbs. (1 Nm).
- Reconnect the left hand air temperature actuator electrical connector.
- Install the left hand floor air outlet duct.
- With the aid of an assistant, install the instrument panel lower panel.
- Reconnect the electrical harness connections.
- Install the instrument panel lower panel bolts. Tighten to 80 inch lbs. (9 Nm).
- Install the instrument panel right air outlet.
- Install the right and left side window air outlet ducts.
- Install the instrument panel left air outlet.
- Install the HVAC control Assembly.
- Install the radio.
- Install the center console, if equipped.
- Install the instrument panel ashtray assembly, if equipped.
- Install the instrument panel compartment.
- Install the steering column.
- Install the driver knee bolster assembly.
- Install the instrument panel cluster assembly.
- Install the left instrument panel accessory trim plate.
- Install the instrument panel center trim panel.
- Install the instrument panel top pad.
- Enable the SIR system.
- Connect the negative battery cable.
- Reprogram the necessary accessories.
Right Side
- Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
- Remove the park brake pedal assembly.
- Remove the screws that retain the actuator.
- Remove the right air temperature actuator (Blend Door).
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the actuator.
To install:
- Connect the electrical connector to actuator.
- Install the right air temperature actuator.
- Install the screws that retain the right air temperature actuator.
- Tighten the screws to 9 inch lbs. (1 Nm).
- Install the park brake pedal assembly.
- Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
- Disable the SIR system.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Drain the cooling system.
- Recover the refrigerant.
- Remove the evaporator tube from the thermal expansion valve.
- Remove the heater hoses from the heater core.
- Remove the brake pedal bracket assembly.
- Pull back and reposition the carpet.
- Remove the lower Instrument Panel (I/P) support brace.
- Reposition the auxiliary air distribution duct.
- Remove the instrument panel carrier.
- Disconnect the HVAC module assembly electrical connectors.
- Remove the right hand floor air outlet duct.
- Remove the left hand floor air outlet duct.
- Remove the HVAC module assembly.
- Remove the A/C evaporator case upper screws (1).
- Separate the upper (2) and lower (3) case.
- Remove the air temperature actuator screws.
- Remove the right air temperature actuator.
To install:
- Install the right air temperature actuator.
- Install the air temperature actuator screws. Tighten the screws to 9 inch lbs. (1 Nm).
- Join together the upper and lower case, install and tighten screws to 9 inch lbs. (1 Nm).
- Install the HVAC module assembly.
- Install the instrument panel carrier.
- Install the auxiliary air distribution duct.
- Install the lower Instrument Panel (I/P) support brace.
- Reposition the carpet.
- Install the brake pedal bracket assembly.
- Install the heater hoses to the heater core.
- Install the evaporator tube to the thermal expansion valve.
- Refill cooling system and the bleed system as follows:
- Add a 50/50 mixture of water and DEX-COOL® antifreeze to the KALT/COLD mark (seam) on the surge tank.
- Start the engine and allow it to idle for 1 min.
- Add more coolant to the surge tank as necessary.
- Install the radiator sure tank cap.
- Cycle the engine, from idle to 3000 rpm, in 30 second intervals, until the engine reaches normal operating temperatures.
- Turn the engine OFF and recheck the coolant level when the engine is cool.
- Evacuate and recharge A/C system. Check connections for leaks.
- Enable the SIR system.
- Reprogram the necessary accessories.
